Training: Hey, It’s Already Mid-May

Training cat is watching.

I look back at where I was at this time last year, before my first round of Team in Training, and I know that I’m leaps and bounds ahead of that. After all, I ran every step of a 5K in March when last year I couldn’t even run a single mile nonstop. So why don’t I feel like I’m even a single step ahead?

I got some good-natured hassle about my training log tonight at dinner, so I’m going to skip the log for the week and tell you that the aforementioned hassler and I shared an excellent Cal Italia pizza — prosciutto, fig, gorgonzola and balsamic — with the aforementioned hassler.

Training starts next Saturday. Coach Tim promises to challenge me with lots of hill repeats to make me stronger and (hopefully) faster. This week, in Sacramento for my conference, I may get up at 6:00 AM to run or hit the gym. Then again, I may decide that sleep is more beneficial than a workout. I’ll make up for it when training gets rolling.
