The Tiny Kitchen Assistant and I went back east for a family visit in early February. I wanted to stop by the supermarket to buy some produce and milk for my 92-year-old Nana. “Why don’t we just go to the market and get her the good stuff?” the Assistant asked. Oh baby, we are so very spoiled. I pointed to the snow-covered ground. “Do you think anything can grow here at this time of year?” He shook his head and thought about it for several minutes before asking, “Mommy, if nothing grows here in the winter, what do people eat?”
But now, Spring is starting to return to the market. It’s a slow process, but when the peas appear, we’re well on our way to the glory days of the market.
- Asian greens
- Cherries (late April)
- Dried fruits
I found a link to four ways to prepare fresh-shelled peas. Yum!
