Betty Says: Meal At A Glance

Oh, I have to love the suggestions that I get, and this one comes from the incomparable Dyana Valentine:

“I can see you creating a chart with scales of ease across the top and some kinds of terms of satisfaction down the axis and putting a rating system in it for how to choose recipes.”

And it was at that moment that I smacked myself on the forehead and wondered why I hadn’t thought of this myself.

I looked into a couple of different methods: bar charts for different factors, nutrition assessments… but pretty soon the at-a-glance chart became a complicated series of factors. I decided to simplify things to their essence and came up with the Betty Barometer.

You’ll soon see this barometer appearing in all of the Betty recipes with a dot in the appropriate spot. In an ideal world, all recipes would have the dot appearing in the upper right quadrant, but let’s face it: sometimes there are more time-consuming recipes that are just better suited for adults and weekends.

Let me know what you think of the new system!

  1. Ohhhh!! I Looooooove a good model–fantastico! I think you could even throw a wildcard axis on the diagonal for adventure/experimental food/ingredient or every day staple. Fabulous. kind of excited by this–or maybe it’s the DayQuil? 🙂
