On warm September days, it’s easy to forget that summer is ending. And then I realize that the stone fruit vendors have already left the market, with Corn Man soon to follow. And where did that butternut squash come from? What happened to summer?
Nonetheless, it’s still a good month for the market. You can catch the tail end of the summer goodies while simultaneously enjoying the winter veggies that you haven’t seen in a while. Maybe it’s still a little too warm for acorn squash, but those days are coming, kids. It won’t be long before the oven is serving double duty as a cooking appliance and a kitchen warmer.
