There are times where you need a quick flavor hit without a lengthy marinade. This spice rub can be made in the time it takes to preheat your grill. The excess can be sealed in a plastic container or zip-top baggie and saved for a few weeks.
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp paprika
- 2 Tbsp chili powder
- 1 Tbsp light brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp kosher salt
- 1 Tbsp freshly ground black pepper
- 1 Tbsp cumin
- 4 pork chops
Instructions
Preheat grill to medium-high.
Combine ingredients in a small bowl. Sprinkle spice mixture onto both sides of the pork chops and massage into the meat.
BIG, IMPORTANT NOTE: If you plan to reuse the spice mixture, don’t reach your porky hands back into the spices. Use one hand to sprinkle, the other hand to flip and massage.
Put the chops on the grill. After 3 minutes, flip the meat and reduce heat to medium. Continue to grill for 12-15 minutes or until the pork reaches an internal temperature of 160 degrees. Cooking times will vary based on the thickness of the chops.
Results
The rub is flavorful, but not spicy, so it passed the Tiny Kitchen Assistant test with flying colors. Adults like it, too.
