Whenever I see race photos, I’m always struck by the same thing: my feet never appear to leave the ground. Evidently I manage to shuffle my way through every race. It’s really a miracle that I haven’t tripped over my own two feet yet!
In the See Jane Run 5K, I struggled with my form. I knew that I was heel-striking more than I should have, and had to take frequent walk breaks to compensate and “reset” my stride.
These photos (there were others online) showed that I did almost everything wrong in that race. My head was down. My torso and hips weren’t aligned. I certainly wasn’t springing off my toes for maximum power.
More things to think about as I get deeper into my Team in Training season.
